Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Congress Rajya Sabha candidate from Assam, has filed a fresh affidavit correcting his age to 80 prior to scrutiny of the nominations. The Prime Minister submitted the fresh affidavit two days ago correcting his age to 80 from 82 as given earlier in his nomination papers for the May 30 election. | NC Hills polls: Voting held peacefully |

The much awaited polling for NC Hills Autonomous Council underwent peacefully on Monday with no untoward incidents reported. The poll percentage is said to be 70 per cent. Voting for 28 seats for the rechristened council was held, which has been upgraded with new powers and autonomy after the two faction of the DHD – Jewel and Nunisa inked a peace deal with centre and Assam government. |
