Its’ a one voice! A unitedcall…Northeast joins together to send a message to New Delhi that enough isenough. Go Back Bangladeshi – resonatesin Guwahati, the gateway of Northeast as student organizations from across theregion under the banner of North East Students Organization stages a massiverally. The message is loud and clear asNortheast joins to spell out its mind together. Its undoubtedly one of thebiggest gathering of recent times as civil bodies, intellectuals and concerncitizens marched along with NESO activist in Guwahati. One voice – one call – one message –one demand – it’s the call of the people. It’s the need of an hour. Go Back Bangladeshi! The severe identity crisis is thebiggest challenge for the northeast today. The rally has sent shockwaves to allgovernment in Northeast and New Delhi that the region is prepared to face anyobstacles. The NESO has spelled out that Northeast is willing to part away, ifgovernment fails to listen to its demand. Its’ a direct threat for thegovernment as the most influential organization has pressed an ultimatum.
Its’ was a sea of humanity asthe rally passed through the city of Guwahati. The message continued to be louder as students and activists raisedslogans and displayed banners. Placards reading as “Border with Bangladeshimust be sealed, Northeast must be free from foreigners, our Northeast we shallprotect, Implement Assam Accord etc” were displaced by activists marching aheadfor justice.
The rally not only asked thegovernment to deport back illegal influx from the region but also condemned onthe atrocities meted out to Northeast people outside the region. The NESOcalled for an act of Parliament to provide security to the people of thisregion.
NESO’s rally participated byvarious other organizations only goes to demonstrate that Northeast standsunited for a cause. Will the government take its call and listen to its demand.Assam government has already spelled out is mind – that NRC will be updated andall illegal migrants will be deport back but civil bodies are not willing tobuy the words. States like Manipur, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh isdemanding that the inner line permit should be immediately introduced in theirrespective states. It will be interesting to note what impact NESO rally willhave on the government in the region and what respond Delhi give to it.
